Random Happenings...

This is probably going to be the most random post ever. But I finally got my photo gallery hung the way I like it in the living room. It makes such a statement and I sure like it.

In other news I have been doing pretty well with my no meat diet. I have had chicken a few times over the last 3 weeks or so. So I feel like I am doing pretty well. I found this great recipe on the back of a penne pasta box and tried it the other night. My husband totally turned his nose up at it, lol!
Going veg for him is quite the challenge, since he really isn't a big veggie eater. That's okay, more for me =)!

Penne with Fresh Vegetables
1 bx of penne pasta
2tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 clove garlic (I used 1 and a half)
1 c. yellow bell pepper
2 cups zucchini, diced
2 cups yellow squash, diced
1 bunch asparagus, cut to inch pieces
2 cups cherry tomatoes halved
salt and pepper to taste

Cook pasta, meanwhile heat olive oil in a large skillet. Using the side of a knife, press and peel garlic and saute in skillet for 1 minute, until slightly brown. Add onion and saute for 5 minutes or until translucent. Add bell peppers, zucchini, yellow squash and asparagus and saute until heated but not completely cooke. Add tomatoes, season with salt and pepper and saute for an additional 2 minutes. Drain pasta and toss with veggies.

*My substitutions* I had a green bell pepper on hand so I used it instead of the yellow. Also I substituted roma tomatoes for the cherry tomatoes.  And since I'm not a big squash girl I left that out.
So mine wasn't nearly as colorful, but it sure was delish!! I love garlic so if a little is good a little more will be better! =)

For those of you local girl, this dish (the way I made it) tasted a lot like Charleston's Shrimp and pasta dish minus the shrimp, just to give you an idea.

It is a beautiful day here, so we are going to get finished up with school early and enjoy the weather.
Yay for spring!

To Blue With Love...

Yay, I think I may have my kinks worked out. I hope! So I thought better late than never for sharing these lovely pops of blue. Like these side tables...

And this delicious kitchen island. I may just have to do this one!

I adore this kitchen with it's open cabinets. And that glass tile backsplash with it's slight hints of blue when the light hits it just right. Puts a smile on my face.

Happy Weekend..

Well I had plans to share some pretty blue pieces with you today and I don't know what I did, but I can't get my blogger to access my iphoto. BOO! So maybe over the weekend I can figure it out. I had recently downloaded Picasa, so maybe that has something to do with it. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We are suppose to have more gray skies. Hopefully some sunshine soon.

Show Stopper...

I have a friend who is a realtor in Austin Texas and I was taken back by this home she said I had to check out. It is stunning!
Don't you think?
Um, yes thanks! I'll take it. And when can I move in?

Pop of Color...

I posted recently of my affections for these lamp shades. I took a trip to Target and left empty handed, I had to sleep on it and make sure I REALLY wanted them. You know when you come home and can't stop thinking about something, that was me. Then I came across this photo and it sealed the deal, I was going back to Target first thing in the morning to get those lamp shades.

I am really enjoying the pop of color they added to the soothing color palette in our bedroom.

Have you found anything lately that you just can't stop thinking about?

Banquette...

Hello everyone, I hope you had a restful weekend. We had snow! Yes, snow for the first day of spring. Luckily though, it is melting off quickly.

A good friend and I are working on designing her living/dining space, and are loving the idea of a built in seating area for dining. I thought I might share some of the photos that have served as inspiration. This first one is my favorite. It is just so quaint, not to mention she has a little half wall just like this photo.
How beautiful are these two options though? I love the tall built in cabinets too!

Recreate...

I would love to recreate this sign. In my own words.

I am feeling much better today too. Thanks for all of your kind words. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Looks like we are in for some yucky weather around here. =(

A Bit O'Green....

Happy St. Pat's Day.
I will just be relaxing with the kids today. I have been having some neck and back troubles so we will be keeping it low key for the next few days. Hope you all have a wonderful day.
And don't forget your green.

Memory Lane...

Over the weekend I was going through some photos and almost made me cry. I was definitely choked up. Time flies doesn't it? I don't think I realized how fast until we had kids and I looks back at photos. It makes me want to seize the day and enjoy every moment, because you don't get those moments back.
Here is my walk down memory lane...

Here is my latest ScrapBox. Jude was such a binki boy, often carrying at least 2 at a time.
I sure like how it turned out.

Designer Crush...

I adore Sarah Richardson! Her style is so inspiring for me. This is by far my favorite room of the Sarah Richardson remodel. It wouldn't have anything to do with the light air color palette I'm sure. {pink!!} Such a crush on pink lately! I would not consider myself a pink girl either. As a matter of fact in years past I wouldn't wear it or even think about using it to decorate with. Funny how your style changes isn't it?

What's your color crush?

Kids Silhouettes...

I love these children's silhouettes! And finally decided to make a DIY version of my own.

silhouettes-framed.jpg

I started with the mug shot profile shot.

Then cut them out, very carefully. And unfortunately then my camera died. So no pics for the next step.
I had some craft paint and Blair of course got pink and the boys, blue.
I painted each photo, let them dry and used double sided tape to attach each photo to the center of some cut to size white card stock.
And the finished product. I really think I would like white frames, but I had these laying around.
I am also considering adding their names underneath each photo.
What do you think, name or no name?

This would be cute to do with your pet too!
