Garage Sale Finds...

Well of all the homes I stopped at this weekend, my hunt was fruitless. There were lots of great coffee tables, but I don't need one of those. Remember, I just cut my entry table down. Although while out in Jenks I hit up an antique store that I have been wanting to visit for sometime. Can I just tell you how tempted I was by so many great pieces. For now all I came home with was a gorgeous piece of milk glass and darn the luck I haven't taken a photo of it yet. Sorry about that. I'll try to get that done to show you. So pretty! The store said I could come back and photograph some things to show you. So be looking for that in the next week.

On a totally different note, I changed out my black and white prints in the dining room. To add, you guessed it, pink! So cheery! I am loving it!

Oh and one more thing!
We are going to be having a giveaway soon. From a super talented friend of mine at Swell Mail Designs!  I love me some pretty paper!
So be on the look out for that as well!

Banquette...

Hello everyone, I hope you had a restful weekend. We had snow! Yes, snow for the first day of spring. Luckily though, it is melting off quickly.

A good friend and I are working on designing her living/dining space, and are loving the idea of a built in seating area for dining. I thought I might share some of the photos that have served as inspiration. This first one is my favorite. It is just so quaint, not to mention she has a little half wall just like this photo.
How beautiful are these two options though? I love the tall built in cabinets too!

I Just Love A Little Nookie...

Especially one that looks like this. What a cozy corner to have breakfast and catch up on all the blogs I love to read. I love the wall color, the chairs and pillows. The bench seat has storage underneath, paired with that fabulous table. The icing on top is the fun way the home owner displays their photos.

{You know I love the pop of blue}

Refreshed Dining Room...

I thought I might show a photo of what our dining room looked like when we bought our house 5 years ago. Scary huh! It has had a few looks since then...

This chocolate brown I really loved and was almost sad to see it go. But I was ready for a change. This table I bought when I was pregnant with Rhett. Didn't really plan on having twins and out growing it. That's what I get for trying to plan everything. So that table is going on Craig's list soon. (any pointers?)
Well here she is. I can't tell you how much the lighter, brighter color really does make the space feel so much bigger. Like a breath of fresh air to walk into this room. Yay, to be able to all fit at the table together and get rid of the highchairs. I am still planning to purchase those chairs at Ikea for the ends of the table. We are making the trip in May.

{Another Angle}
I can't tell you how excited I was to find these frames at Gordman's. They were perfect and better yet dirt cheap! And finally I got to put some of the pictures I have been taking around down in proper frames. Sure makes them look good. (If I do say so myself)
These curtains my friend Chris got for her house and the more I thought about them the more I had to have some for myself. Perfect for the look I was going for in this room. Not to mention they were $15 for the pair.
This room certainly has come a long way from what it started out as 5 years ago. Thanks for looking!

Sneak Peek...

Why do I heart Target? Why fabulous find after fabulous find of course! I scored the cutest bag on Monday! Nope I don't feel guilty. It's okay to do something for me every now and then. I am feeling fresh and springy ( a word?)!

Just a little sneak peek at what's going on in the dining room. Hope to have finished pics for you in a day or so. Remember those gallery photos in a previous post.
I usually like the chunkier black frames, but fell in love with the look of those skinny black frame and the large white mats. So the hunt was on. I thought surely Hobby Lobby would have something. Nope. Target? They had the chunkier frames with the white mat. Beautiful, but not what I was looking for in this particular instance. Next onto a discount everything store here in town. Just as I was about to give up (not to mention the kids were being totally embarrassing), I found the perfect frames for only $6.99! I'll take them! YAY!

Dining Low Down...

I thought I might share an interesting story with you all about the purchase of our dining table. We found it at Pier 1 one weekend and noticed it was on sale. Unwilling to commit to getting it without thinking about my other options I left the store. I thought on it a week...well really wished I would have gone and gotten it for a week is more like it. I sent in the hubs by himself to get the table. Someone had to stay in the car with the kids you know. So he comes out we load her up and I am so excited, when Josh proceeds to tell me that they tried to charge him $80 extra dollars for the legs of the table. I said your kidding right? Nope. No there aren't interchangeable styles of legs for the table, they are the ones that go to the table, but unless you want this style of table

you must purchase the legs! Well they told that to the wrong man. Mr. Peak who does sales for a living, just informed them of how he was not paying for the legs and she was going to throw those in. In his eloquent way don't you know. And by george we didn't pay extra for the legs. My question is~ will this be a new trend?! Here is this lovely dining table but if you want it you better expect to pay more than the sticker price!

Dining room update...

The chairs are here and and I am really happy with them! Thank you sooooo much Chris and Josh for picking them up for me!! Now that they are in there place I am itching to paint. I won't be happy with just painting the dining room though, I would have to get to the living room either the same night or the next. Cause you know I'm just nutty like that.

I am thinking about these chairs for the ends of the table. What do you think? I am going to double them as seating in the living area.
To be continued...

The Wind Of Change...

This is currently what my dining room looks like. (Minus two highchairs I thought I would spare you) But a change is brewing. I purchased a new dining table, YAY, that we all can fit at. Now for the chairs.  I am so looking forward to getting rid of the highchairs. They take up so much room! The pendant is new, some very sweet friends came installed for me! You know who you are, THANK YOU!

So this is sort of what I am thinking. We shall see how it all comes together.

Stylish Friend...

I am blessed to have a great friend with a great eye for decorating and anything crafty! We have been putting our heads together to tweek her living and dining rooms. She just got these super cute curtains from Ikea. Black and white with a little red/orange detail on them. So when she decided to add the red branches to the center of her table, they were just PERFECT! I am totally jealous, I have been wanting to do this in my living room for a while. But I can see it now, the kids would totally be using those gorgeous branches as pirate swords!  See those pillows by the window. Created by Mrs. Talented herself! Her style tends to be kichy and eclectic. Not to matchy, matchy. I love it! So when we get the rest of the living room together, I'll be back to share it with you! Looks great Chris, fabulous job!

Fine Dining...

I am so pining for a larger dining table. The twins are so ready to be out of their highchairs. Which really puts the squeeze on everyones elbow room. I purchased the table we have now before we had Rhett and quickly realized that it wasn't going to be large enough for our growing family. I really need to put it on craigslist. Such indecision, I really think I would like to have a black table with white chairs, but then question if I should go for a mahogany table and a bit more traditional. Decisions, decisions! For now here are some beautiful rooms.

All of these photos were found here.

Getting Inspired...

Well don't you know if I could I would give just about every room an overhaul at one time! Since that is not reality (one can dream) I was bee bopping around the net getting inspired for the next project. You know there is always one. Drives my husband crazy. But he keeps coming back for more, so he must like me a little. I would love to get my hands on Josh's office. It is such a mish mash of things. So here is a bit of inspiration.

Since blue-grey my color of choice right now.

While shop hopping I fell in love. With a buffet from West Elm that is.
