Pregnant?

Monday is the day friends! I will reveal my secret. So I hope you will join me then!
I have a fun surprise in store for you!

I have a few projects I hope to finish this weekend. I am taking Karen's advice and covering
my stool with some faux fur. I think it will be a nice touch with my new vanity. I'll share pics
for sure. =)

Oh one more thing, I thought I might give you a heads up. I am not pregnant. LOL
You guys are so funny! At least I know I have lots of support from my sweet bloggie friends!
We are finished with the baby making. ;) After the twins we did consider having one more. But
our family doesn't work that way. We don't get singles. My grandmothers sister had 2 sets of twins
and I wasn't really willing to take that chance. That would be 5 kids, whew! I am happy with the
sweeties I have.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! And will join me Monday for my surprise, or maybe
surprises! =)

HUGS!

Lovely Images

Thank You all so much for your sweet comments for Josh! He had a fun day!
We treated him to some of his favorite things, jelly bellies and
Chinese food. You guys are all so great!

How divine is this bathroom? I would love a long hot soak in that tub.

I'm feeling the need to be carefree and throw caution to the wind. Maybe
it's the fall weather. Or maybe I need a vacation, hehe. I think it's because
I'm a pretty"do the right thing" kind of person. Always thinking about how
my decisions will impact my children or make someone else feel. When I
say throw caution to the wind, I think my version of that is pretty tame. So today
I'll settle for some pretty photos. That and a tea and I'm one happy lady. Hope
you are all having a happy week.

Hugs to all of you!

Fair Fun

The Fair is in town. The last time I went at the fair, was when I was pregnant with
Rhett. And I really went to satisfy my pregnancy cravings. Now that the twins are old enough
to enjoy most of the rides, we thought it was time to go. Blair was barely tall enough to ride.
They had such a big time!

Blair is my dare devil! She would squeal and laugh so big.
I don't think she is scared of a thing. Which is what I love about
her and what drives me crazy too. Especially when her free
spirited self just about got hit by a car as she wasn't paying attention
walking back to our car. Gave us all a heart attack.

One of our last rides was the Ferris Wheel. I suggested it, thinking it was the kiddie one. It won't be as high.

MMMHHH, What was I thinking? I sat very still. =)
Here was the view...

Looking at those smiles make it all worth it!
What's up for this weekend? I am thinking it's time for pumpkins. I try my best to wait a little
before putting them out. Because I like leaving them out until Thanksgiving. I don't do Halloween
decorations, I do fall deco.

Have a great day friends!

Pattern Love

All of the sudden I feel like I am crazy in love with so many different patterns. So when I came across this sofa from West Elm, I almost squealed out loud! Isn't it fantastic!? I wish I had somewhere for it and I would snap it up in a minute! I love everything about it, from the pattern on the upholstery to it's gorgeous legs.

I hadn't been poking around at West Elm for a while I had to see what else they had going on.
And that's when I came across this ottoman. Another fabulous piece....
and the rug....
and those mirrors...
and the owl lamp, side tables and rosette pillow!
ugh, so much goodness! What's a girl to do, but go on image overload.

I have totally been into all of the shimmery things that are out in stores lately.
I would love to have these shams. They would go great with my headboard,
and would throw in bit of extra depth to my bedding. And they have that
pretty sheen I'm so crazy about right now.

Another shimmery pillow? Yes, please!
How many of you are loving all of these faux wallpapered walls? Where
they are doing the stenciling instead of wallpaper. I have been swooning over it too.
So this past weekend I did a wall in my living room, behind my TV area. I am
LOVING it! Can't believe I even debated it, really. I used a high gloss for the stenciled
area on top of a flat paint and it gives the nicest glow. I'll be sharing soon.

Speaking of shiny things, dare I say Christmas is really right around the corner.
I love decorating for Christmas and West Elm has their Holiday preview going on,
so I couldn't resist taking a peek. I just may have to have me some new stockings
this year.

Hugs everyone! Have a wonderful Thursday! It's almost the weekend!
Woot Woot!

Vanity Table

"Vanity Table"
You may remember back over the summer when I was looking for a vanity table to double as my bed side table. I hunted around at flea markets and garage sales and came up empty handed. So I was tickled to death when my trip to the salvation army yielded this find. Look at those legs. =)
It is now at home beside my bed. Isn't it great how one small change can really change the feel of a room. It just feels more complete and cozy.
Now all I need is a stool. This one we have had for a while. Can you tell? I had actually forgotten
about it. I think I may try to give it a new coat of paint and upholster the top. It could work.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cabinet Reveal

The Story:
I have had this lovely cabinet for
about 7 years. It's a great piece but I
was just ready for a change. I am sure there
are a few people out there who are thinking
"Why did you want to mess with this?", but it was
time.

So first I took off the lattice. Do you see Hello Kitty
up there, she is patiently waiting to have her head sewn back on.
LOL

I sanded it down and then used a deglosser (or liquid sander)
to remove any other finish off.
This is very important. If not your paint will slide right off.
Then primer, and the first coat of paint.
I used Valspar Polar Star.
But after the first coat it was too white. I wanted white, but
I was going for a darker gray white.
So I went back with the next darker shade,
Valspar Gravity. Perfect!

Next I used a stencil I downloaded from here to trace on my pattern.
And with a steady hand I used Valspar Metropolis to trace
my stencil pattern. Let me tell you as I was painting
the lines I had traced, I thought, "This is looking terrible".
Then I stood back to take a look...

And I was in love! So very glad I went ahead and painted
this piece of furniture.

I decorated the top with special things. The large light house painting my dad's aunt
made for me when I got married. The family photo is one of my very favorites!
And here is my latest ScrapBox.

Shoes my grandma saved from when I was a baby and a photo of her holding me.
I cherish this photo and am so excited to have a way to display it uniquely.

What do you think?

Headboard Tutorial

The twins are loving their headboards! And I am loving how much better their room looks.

There are quite a few tutorial on this project
floating around the net.
Here is how I did it.

What you need:
1/4 plywood
fabric
batting
foam (I used an inexpensive egg crate)
staple gun
d-rings
picture wire
50 lb picture hangers

{Something I like to do before I have my plywood cut (at Lowe's)
is to put up painter tape to outline how large I want the headboard.
Then I measure it and take those measurements to
Lowe's to have the wood cut.}
First I lay out the egg crate (or foam) and cut it to size.
Make sure if using a egg crate to lay the pattern side down,
so it won't show through.

To give the kids a nice soft edge I went ahead and wrapped the foam around and stapled it down all the way around.
{If you wanted a nice crisp edge you might cut your foam to the exact size of your wood and  use some spray adhesive to attach it to the board.}
Next step is to lay out your batting. I purchased a large roll of batting at Joann's
and left it folded over to double it. Just to give it a bit more fluff.
And again staple away.
 This is the fabric step!
Make sure and iron your fabric if need be.
Then lay it out fabric side down,
I like to start stapling at 12:00 and 6:00 first. Then check how your pattern
looks. If there is anything you need to center in your pattern (fabric)
you will want to adjust that now, before you have all of those staples in.
If it looks good then move on and staple at 3:00 and 9:00, checking your fabric again
and making sure to pull it taut as you staple.
If all looks good continue stapling about every 2 inches all the way around.
You are almost ready to hang.
Next get out those d-rings and screw them into the back of your headboard.
Making sure to check your fabric if you have a desired end that you need to be
on the top. I placed my d-rings about a 1/4 of the way down.
Run the picture wire through the d-rings and secure it.
Once you have done those things the last step is to mount your picture hooks to the wall
and hang the headboard. I like to use 2 of the weighted hooks spread a little ways apart.
This way the headboard doesn't shift. Also when planning my headboards I like them to tuck
a bit behind the mattress. That way when I push the bed up against it, it is secure.
And this is your finished product.
Friends this is super easy and really creates
such a custom look.
I don't know that I will ever buy a "real"
headboard again!

Have a great weekend!

Let me know if you guys are interested in a tutorial for the
Argyle Wreath from yesterdays post.

A Rainy Day

I generally am not a fan of rain, but it was such a wonderful rainy
day yesterday.
There was a calm around our house,
Rhett was enjoying some free time on the
computer, Jude was working a puzzle,
and Blair was coloring. While they were
working, I was crafting away myself.
On this Argyle wreath...

 and these coasters.

Hello family, I may have just
found a cute Christmas gift.
