I really wanted to say THANK YOU for the birthday wishes! It truly made my day special! We have made and devoured our cupcakes. The kids loved every minute of it. The haircut was so relaxing and I ended up getting a hand massage while I was getting my hair blown out. I was a lump of jello after that. SO RELAXED!

It's My Party...

Today is my 30th Birthday! I love birthdays. I always feel like they are a fresh start and this one is no exception. The kids and I are going to make cupcakes and they are going to get to decorate their own. They cannot wait! And tomorrow I get a haircut! I know that may sound like so what, but for me it is a big deal. Working in a salon I am so busy I don't have time to get my own haircut. I used to be able to cut my own hair, but that was back when I wore it pixie short. Now it is way to long to cut myself. So, *squeal* I have a "me time" appointment. Can't wait! 

Rest and Relaxation...

One of our favorite getaway spots is to take the not too long drive down to Dallas, Texas.

Always tons to do and see. And on our last trip down I happened by a new hotel being built. So I jotted down the name and forgot about it... until now. As I googled I was in awe of this fantastic property. It has been open about 6 months now, therefore I think I am due to give it a go! Just looks at all of the Nylo Hotel's lofty charm!

I've Been Framed...

Today I thought I would share one of the frames I painted last week. I hope to finish it out as a chalkboard, but will have to wait til the weather warms up a bit. I found this gorgeous frame in Hobby Lobby in the 60 percent off isle. Yay! Even though it is not yet complete I hung it in the dining room when I intended to hang it when it was all finished. I have to say I am really kind of loving it just as it is! HMMM What to do? To finish it or not to finish it?

Not What You'd Expect...

Not what you would expect from a new construction. I would say more often than not when you build a brand new home you add the charm after move in. Seems like so many new homes are rather cookie cutter. Well I came across a beauty, where charm abounds even before you move in...

Pillow Heaven...

A good friend of mine sent me a text the other day with a photo of these pillows. I knew right then I had to have them for my living room. I think they make a great addition. And they are double sided with a bird and rosette on the other side. Found at Target!

Painting In My Sleep...

 I have been a busy girl the last few days. The weather was a bit nicer so I took the opportunity to get a few outside project finished and a few inside ones as well. 

Project completed:

Painted the porch

Embellished porch steps

Painted 3 vases

Painted mirror frame

Painted decorative frame

Painted the living room

The frames and vases are things I have had for a while and repurposing. I am happy with how the porch turned out. Now it is ready for spring. I would love to be able to get out and pretend I have a green thumb and get some plants in the ground. But it is just not quite warm enough for that yet... darn.

While I was not quite this ambitious with my porch painting project, below are some inspiration.

Slice of Life...

Just incase you missed this article in the Martha Stewart Magazine I am going to hit the highlights for you. I was so moved by the preservation of special moments in this way.  It is called Scrapboxing. I absolutely LOVE  this! And have begun to work on some of my own scrapboxing. Makes me wish I hadn't some how lost Blair's first bikini! It was so cute too! Here are a few of my favorites. Does This Date Me...

I have loved Sade since I was a little. We used to have these huge floor speakers blaring (yeah, my dad was into that) and while we would clean house we would have her playing! So needless to say I was super excited to see that Sade came out with a new album! For me it is perfection... I love it!

Much Ado About Nothing...

Why does my kitchen have to go from neat and tidy to this soooo quickly! Ugh, dishes are never ending.  On a side note though I did get a new faucet if you can see past the sink full of dishes! We have had a few new little additions to the house this past week. One was a new ceiling fan/ light fixture in the living room. WOW, does it make a difference! It's like the rooms jewelry. 

 Are you gearing up for Valentine's Day? Making plans? We haven't done much the last few years. But this year we are going to cook with some friends. Which got me to thinking, should I bring a host gift? If so what should I bring? Any ideas?

I had to show you the birds I found at Michael's over the weekend. I thought they were sweet. I love the detail.
