What Would You Do...

So this is my kitchen... and that bead board above the cabinets just isn't doing it for me. I am not however doing any kind of demo.  I want to put something up there, but what? I am fresh out of ideas. Things I have thought of: open frames (color or none), my urban letters spelling out something appetizing. Plates seems so country or should I just leave it? AAAHHH, I am at the end of my creative juices, help!

BTW, the colors I am going for are black, white, and light blue. You know I appreciate you all!

I am a picture fanatic, so I would either do a the picture thing or what I love and have done around my house is Uppercase living. (a cheaper way is to find your quote or saying and make a transparency and then overhead it up there and trace it. That away you can do it the way you want it, cheaper. BUT I LOVE Uppercase living. Just a suggestion.

I love the beadboard! But it is more cottagey, so if that's not the look you're going for...you could paint the beadboard a light blue or the adjacent wall color to add interest above the white cabinets. I think a word might distract from your fabulous EAT on the adjoing wall, so I'd see what color could do and then go from there.

I agree with anonymous....I think the uppercase living letters in black would be striking! Something like...EAT**LAUGH**LIVE or Bon Appetit.

I heart your kitchen esp. that fab backsplash! I would:

paint the beadboard the same grey as the walls

or

paint a wide grey horizontal stripe (or 2 thinner ones) to add some interest

or

though some plates scream country, I agree, maybe square plates w/ a modern graphic pattern in black and white? Or grey & white or even blue & white?

Can't wait to see what you choose!

Thank you all so much for your suggestions, I am going to let them all soak in really well and let you know what I come up with. Why didn't I think of painting up there, DUH!

Thanks again!
