Striped Bliss...

I have been loving stripes for quite some time. And this striped entry has me completely swooning. I am  super inspired to do something similar, slightly less contrast in color, in my hallway. When I have done stripes in the past they have been more of a texture thing, using gloss and matte finishes. For one when you do that imperfections show up lots less. So we'll see how bold I am. Gosh though, could this space have turned out any better.

Later this week, my take on DIY children's silhouettes and another ScrapBox.

Happy Monday Ya'll!

Ramdom...

I haven't been surfing around much lately, but last night I got a few minutes to myself after the kids went to bed and came across this completely lovely chandelier from West Elm. If I didn't love my drum shade pendant I have in my dining space already, I might just spring for this one.

This space has obviously nothing to do with the photo above, but I am diggin' all the elements of this space. The perfect wall color, and the bit of pattern on the ottomans to the pop of color in the lamps. I am completely a sucker for a gawdy mirror these days too!

What can I say I am a always drawn to stripes and these are no exception. They really make the space. I would be tickled to death to have a space like this to pen my grandmother (because you know she does not have the internet).

Hope you all have a safe New Year's Eve!

More Door Painting...

As you know over last weekend I painted my front door. Then I came across a post at the Little Green Notebook where Jenny helped her mom paint the interior side of her front door...

Wow! What an impact! I may just have to do this little update to my door.

What I've Been Up To...

Well it's about time that I finished above the "sitting area" in our master bedroom. The anniversary pics we had taken mixed with a few homemade art pieces, one that reads "you and I". Finishing this corner just puts that last little touch on that area.
Feeling like my entry way was missing something I went treasure hunting, in my own house. When Josh and I got married my great aunt painted us this light house picture. I had it up until a couple of months ago, when I took it down with plans to move it somewhere else but, had been storing it. I got it back out and set it up on the entry table along with a few other photos and a frame I had recently picked up. The frame on the painted art and the new frame were both gold. I had actually purchased the smaller gold frame with plans to paint it, but when I set it up with the other gold frame it seemed to make the whole set up make sense. So here is how she stands now. I know the one side is still a little scarce, but I'm working on it.

Jazz And Vinegar...

I really missed the texture my gloss stripes added to our entry wall after repainting. So this weekend I went back in and added them. I had originally painted the wall in a flat finish, so it was super easy to go back and add the stripes. Tape off the size you want and paint.  Last time around I had stripes all the way up and down on the wall. This time, however, I added only 2. A larger stripe and a smaller one. Just to jazz it up a bit. I went with a Gloss finish. I have always loved stripes, but sometimes don't love them in different colors. So by doing them in the same color and different finishes it give me some texture without being over the top.

What about the vinegar part of the title? Well I was not aware that if you put a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in the water of your fresh flower it will keep them looking pretty longer. Those flower are 2 weeks old.
Hope your all having a great Monday!

Entry Table...

Remember this photo... I found a table with similar lines. I didn't buy it right off the bat. I mulled over it for two weeks. That's long enough isn't it?

Back I went to the store hoping it was still there.
And....

There she was.
Here is my new entry way complete with my newly painted mirror, and my pops of fuschia that I am so loving these days.
Another angle.
I am happy to have this area revived. It is the first thing you see when you walk in and I wanted it to have that fresh inviting feel. This space is doing that for me.

Drawing Inspiration...

I know I have posted this photo before, but this weekend I thought I might go out and look for a table for our entry way. I came across a one very similar to this. I didn't buy it... yet. I thought I might think on it first and make sure that it was for sure something I wanted. Although it was a killer price and even if I changed my mind down the road I wouldn't feel guilty. Listen to me talking myself into it even more. Only problem is my tv cabinet is slightly more modern and I don't have plans on getting a new one any time soon. Other priorities.

This picture has got my creative juices flowing. I love the thought of a large canvas like this with something personal to our family written on it. We'll see what I come up with.

Wall Paper...

I'm not sure that I could actually be committed to wall paper, (so much work to take down when I'm ready to change) but I sure
LOVE this combination of wall paper and console table. So
pretty.

Warm Welcome...

A living room makeover wouldn't be complete without the entryway looking good too! I have forever been liking this chunky console table.

{Found at west elm}

But then there is the long slender console, which would also fit my space perfectly.

I love this photo, everything about this black table and the blue accents. Even the mirror. Very glamorous.

Entry Wall...

Since I have no actual entry way I am have made a pretend one, by arranging my furniture in such a way. And thanks to Ashley we now have some great pictures to put on this wall. I recently painted our living room and this wall blue. To make the "entry" wall different from the others I taped off stripes and painted them the same color of blue but in a semi-gloss. The other is all flat paint. I hung a bracket less shelf and am now adding my pictures. So I'll be back soon with a finished wall of pics and the whole living room.
