Memory Monday...

Over the weekend my dad was gracious enough to take all 3 of my children and keep them over night. So on Sunday we made our way out to pick them up. My dad lives on 100 acres, it is so peaceful. When we arrived the kids were all playing outside and having a blast. Needless to say I had, had to much tea and had to make a bathroom run. As soon as I opened the door I heard it. The sound of blues playing loudly over the surround sound. My eyes almost welled up. (cause I'm a sap like that) Reminded me of growing up. In our house there was always music playing. Dad has these huge speakers! I think that is probably why I am such a music lover today. And I too, always have music playing. Although I think I really need surround sound! To have the whole place alive with music is just... wonderful!

Do you have any fond memories of childhood? Ones that you think have carried through to where you are now? I would love to hear about them. Leave your story in the comment section or better yet, post about them and link it back hear so we can all come and read.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are off to a great start of the week!
Happy Monday!

I about started bawling when reading this. Some of my favorite memories are listening to Aretha Franklins "R-E-S-P-E-C-T"

Gotta love it! BTW Cannon LOVED playing with the kids. He kept hollaring for BAIR all night. Poor thing can't pronounce his L's very good.

I grew up with music playing all the time too, all kinds of good music. I have been to see Crosby Stills Nash and Young with my mom a couple of times, those are memories I will never forget.
I married a music lover so its on everyday at our house.
Years before i was pregnant my husband asked me if I new what Muddy Waters real name was. I had no idea, he said Mckinley Morganfield. I fell in love with the name right away and now we have a Mckinley Morgan for our very own.
Sorry for the long comment!
Happy Monday

Music always brings memories back to me. I too always have music on and love to belt out each song although I can't sing... Since I think I am looking at your wedding photo it brings me back to my wedding, dancing with my dad, the song playing was butterfly kisses and I cried a good portion of our dance...
Also, I remember every saturday morning my mom coming into my sis and my rooms to wake us up. she'd be dancing and singing along to her favorite song at the time, I remember a lot of phil collins, sade and anita baker... it was a happy way to wake up and begin my weekends.

Londen, I Love Muddy Waters and love his real name even better! Thought you might like to know our son Jude's middle name is Londen!

Sarah, I grew up on Sade too and still can't get enough of her music! Just bought her most recent album!

Oh Jesse...you made me cry, that was beautiful!! My daddy always woke my brother, sister and I up every Saturday morning with his singing in the kitchen while he & my mom we're cooking breakfast. Such a beautiful memory for me. He is almost 70 & calls his fiance' every morning to wake her up with his singing :)

Awww, so sweet! I have fond memories of music, too, our house was at the top of the street and everyone congregated there, it was always a party, and always lots of fun! Great post!

Oh, what a BEAUTIFUL photo of you and your Daddy dancing at your wedding. I have a similar one that makes me cry every.single.time. I see it! I have a ton of fond memories of childhood that carry me through where I am today. I would say our annual trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina are among my fondest. My Dad taught us how to fish and build sand castles and he spent countless hours playing in the ocean allowing the waves to smack him in the face while holding me and my sisters up high enough so that the water wouldn't pound us. :)

That made my eyes tear up. My dad has been gone for 13 years but I remember that he used to listen to Frank Sinatra albums after work. I think that is why I love Frank Sinatra so much and wanted his song, "All the Way" played at my wedding reception. Music really has a way of stirring up memories.

You're going to laugh at me. My parent would always listen to Olivia Newton John and/or Fleetwood Mac. And my mom has a thing for Elvis, ever since she saw him perform live when she was a teenager. To this day, Olivia, Stevie, & Elvis still hold a special place in my heart.

I love this post and your photo! A picture's worth a 1000 words indeed.

For me, the sound of the Dodgers playing on the radio means home.

I'm not even a baseball fan, and sometimes I'll play a game in the background while I'm cleaning. Makes me feel safe.
