After getting a new comforter by accident, and just all together ready for a bedroom spruce up the finishing results are in. I upholstered my own headboard back in December using some great online tutorials and a velvet curtain for the fabric. I love how it turned out. I feel like I am in a swanky place that isn't mine. I had planned on having matching end tables on either side of the bed, but had a bit of a tweek in my plan. Now each side has it's own personality and I am really happy with it. Having the steel blue curtains really gives the room a serene environment. The mirrors, lamps and tulip style table I picked up at Target. (my fav store) With three kids always in toe there aren't to many other places I venture out to on a regular basis. And why when Target is so great.
The story on this side table: I ordered them from Ikea and when I received them and got them put together they were way to low. I knew that they would be on the shorter side but thought it might still work. Not even close. So my fix was to attach the two boxes together. Because I loved the look of the tables so much I hated to send them back. Once I got the two boxes attached together it was perfect. Bonus for me I get more storage. Below is what it looks like with the two tables attached together and below that is the original version.
This is the hubs side of the bed. I love this table and was really excited when I realized I could incorporate it into our room . Plus he doesn't need the storage space on his side like I do for all of my stuff!
Last but not least is our lil sitting area. I am still working on that frame above. I am going to paint the frame black. Right now I have some paintable wall paper unpainted in the frame. But am thinking I will paint it my accent color of steel blue. Your thoughts?
Here is a closer shot of the framed piece.

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE your room. I am sure that you and I must be sisters seperated at birth.
Just my 2 cents....I would find a special photo to put in the frame...black and white. Maybe of Josh and yours favorite place, a piece of furniture at your fav resturant, something like that. Make it really personal.
Enjoy your room!
OMG! It looks like a hotel...my house next!!! You freaking rock! Seriously it looks so good. I am so proud of you.
definitely blue
I love all of you girl, thanks so much for your comments!
OH.MY.GAH. *jaw hitting floor*
I absolutely love it! Sooo worth the wait, J! Yes, I'm yelling, I'm so excited =)
It all works so well together--the bedding, the lush headboard, the lamps, the fab mirrors. I esp. love your spin on the nightstand--those legs are so chic!
I think painting that paper inside the frame would be the perfect art. I say steel blue or even a silver!
Simply gorgeous =)
You are such an awesome decorator! I love, love, love it! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent!
BTW, what is the picture in the frame? Is it scrapbook paper?
OK..I thought it must be scrapbook paper or wallpaper or something. I think it would really add a pop if you DRY BRUSH painted it. It would be a little more subtle and not detract from the raised print on it. I'm thinking I might do something like that in our bedroom. I have the bare bones to the master room and bathroom (chocolate brown and ice blue), but I have NOTHING on the walls in the bedroom. You are inspirational!
what kinda table is that on your blog. i love it. is it ikea?
Tam, it sure is ikea. I combined two tables to make it higher with more storage. The tulip style table is Target.
